What I'm up to · updated September 30, 2026
Now.
Finishing my books out in the open, building G8KEPR at night, and teaching a Raspberry Pi to act like 1994 cable TV.
A snapshot of what's on my plate. It changes, and this page changes with it. (It's a now page, if you're wondering where the idea comes from.)
- 5Novels on the shelf
- 484KWords of fiction posted
- 57Songs in the songbook

Writing, out in the open
This site turned into a workshop this month. My novels are up in full, one chapter per page, with my revision notes left showing where anyone can see them. Short stories get written here scene by scene. And every song I could dig out of old notebooks is in the songbook, chords on top, rough ones included.
Senior Systems Engineer
Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Azure, mostly when something has gone sideways. The fun part is finding out why.
Background ↗- Every other side business. I shelved them all in September so G8KEPR gets the hours.
- The Photography section, for now.
G8KEPR
Most nightsMy security startup. It's narrowed down to one thing I think it does better than anybody: spotting an attack that moves across APIs, MCP servers and AI tools, and connecting the dots.
g8kepr.com ↗Kaybl
DesigningA cable-TV guide for Plex and Jellyfin, drawn for a TV, a phone and a desktop. Cassette futurism on a Vignelli grid.
The case study ↗A notebook app with no name
SketchingNotebooks you can theme any way you like, sticky notes capped at 240 characters on purpose. The first name I picked was already taken, so it's nameless for now.
A Raspberry Pi 4, a CRT over composite, a 3D-printed box with a keypad, and WeatherStar on channel 01.
Build log ↗An arcade cabinet
WiringA 4:3 monitor and CoinOPS on a PC instead of a Pandora box.
Why CoinOPS ↗Gridfinity drawers
ShoppingThe baseplates are printed. The bins are easy. A drawer cabinet worth putting them in is the hard part.
The hunt ↗Paperbacks into hardcovers
PlanningManga-sized library bindings with the art printed right on the case. Nothing glued yet.
The plan ↗
A chore chart economy
RunningThree kids, one wall calendar, and a star that ended up worth a quarter instead of a penny.
How it works ↗Watercolor, then Posca
PracticingLoose washes first, crisp paint-marker lines over the top once it's dry.
The method ↗An off switch per gadget
Figuring outOne tap to cut the internet to one tablet or one console, without touching anything else in the house.
The options ↗
Reviewing what I've played
WritingA new Game Reviews shelf: short, honest takes on games from my Steam library, screenshots included.
Game Reviews ↗Shadow of Mordor, modded
PlayingTwelve years old and still a good time, especially with the HUD gone and a ReShade preset on top.
The mod list ↗PS2 emulation and my own movie files, smaller than a Steam Deck. Leaning toward the AYN Thor.
