Pepper or Candy Bacon

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. thick-cut bacon
  • 5 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. cracked black pepper
  • 1 tsp. red pepper flakes

Directions:

  1. Combine brown sugar, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and red pepper flakes, then rub it on the bacon.
  2. Preheat your griddle to 350 degrees. Place your bacon down while it preheats to help render out the fat.
  3. Flip the bacon regularly to help keep it from burning. Do not get your griddle too hot.
  4. Let it finish cooking in the syrupy mixture, but watch it carefully because the sugars will burn quickly.
  5. Keep a wire rack on the griddle so you can remove pieces as they finish.
