Description:
This guide walks you through the steps to offboard a device from Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) and enroll it into Microsoft Intune for device management. It is essential to ensure that the device is properly transitioned to maintain security and compliance.
Steps:
- Sign in to Microsoft Defender Security Center: Go to the Microsoft Defender Security Center at https://securitycenter.windows.com and sign in with your administrator account.
- Navigate to “Settings”: In the left-hand navigation pane, click on “Settings” and then select “Onboarding” from the sub-menu.
- Select “Offboard”: On the Onboarding page, locate the device that you want to move to Intune and click on “Offboard” next to it.
- Confirm offboarding: You will be prompted to confirm the offboarding action. Read the information provided and click on “Offboard” to proceed.
- Wait for offboarding to complete: The offboarding process may take some time to complete, depending on the device and network conditions. During this time, the device will no longer be managed by MDE.
- Enroll the device in Intune: Once the offboarding is finished, proceed with enrolling the device in Microsoft Intune using the appropriate enrollment method.
- Manage the device with Intune: After successfully enrolling the device in Intune, it will be managed by Intune, allowing you to apply policies, settings, and configurations specific to Intune.
Note: Ensure that the necessary licenses and permissions are in place for Intune management. Some settings and configurations from MDE may not directly transfer to Intune, so review and reconfigure them within Intune as needed.
